Alan is spearheading 1stinrail Ireland’s progression in to the Irish Railway Construction Industry.

A native of Dublin, and now having returned to Ireland with his young family, Alan brings decades of experience in the UK Rail Industry. Alan has specialist knowledge in Permanent Way Engineering and Construction. Previous to establishing 1stinrail UK, Alan worked for Tube Lines SMEP as General Manager with responsibility for the successful delivery for all SMEP works. He has also worked with Trackwork Ltd.

Alan has been the director with the responsibility for the 1stinrail London Office and all works managed from there including Railway Engineering Contracts and the provision of professional and skilled services.

Alan has come up through the ranks and brings comprehensive hands-on knowledge and skills. Alan has the proven ability to get the job done, and to do it well. Originally Alan worked as a trackman on tube reconditioning and ETR works.  He went to become Foreman, Supervisor and Senior Supervisor, and then promoted to Construction Manager.

Alan is a skilled man manager with the ability to drive the programme whilst maintaining safety standards, he understands the needs and always promotes efficiencies throughout the construction process minimising waste in all aspects, thus increasing productivity whilst minimising cost.

Alan is hardworking, and always looking for improvement in productivity, efficiency, and quality.

Director : Stephen Jackson.

Stephen is responsible for the overall Management and Development of the business in both Railway Engineering and provision of Professional and Skilled Services. Stephen is the Managing Director of the UK business. His key roles include the establishment and Management of Company Standards in Health and Safety, Environment, Quality, together with both the financial and commercial control for the company.

Stephen is organised, disciplined, committed, determined and energetic with a focus on results. He leads by example with a reputation for being honest and fair, with client and own organization alike.

Stephen is skilled at building strong teams, understanding fully the need to utilize differing management styles to motivate individuals and that each member will have their own talents to bring to the organization. He understands the need and promotes the use of monitors and measures to provide up to date information on levels of success of business streams, together with the setting of standards as benchmarks for the organisation and its individuals to follow.

Stephen is commercially astute and skilled at identifying waste and opportunity. He has strong belief in objective setting to improve business, service, profitability and satisfaction of key personnel.

Previous to 1stinrail Stephen was the Operations Director with Trackwork Limited. Stephen’s career to Operations Director had developed through roles and positions including: Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Manager, Contracts Manager, and Contracts Director.

Director : Jamie Kelly.

Jamie is currently working with fellow Directors to develop and enhance the 1stinrail business with an emphasis on introducing new more efficient technologies. He is a highly motivated Project Manager with a wide range of experience in multi discipline project delivery roles. He has held senior management roles with the ultimate responsibility for the safe, compliant and profitable delivery for a number of high profile projects. Jamie is able to liaise closely with clients and fellow team members to develop close working relationships based on trust and honesty in order to meet joint aspirations.

For 1stinrail Jamie has worked with Stagecoach Rail Major Projects, on Manchester Metrolink City Centre Track Renewals Project, as Senior Project Manager for the works with full responsibility for the success of the project. This £17million project was delivered on time, within budget and with a project AFR of 0. All key dates were met under the contract and this extremely challenging project was nominated for the “best light rail project of 2009”. Jamie developed the project team, managed the pre-construction contractual negotiations with both the client and the supply chain. On signing of the contracts James managed the delivery of the works in the centre of Manchester ensuring all stakeholders interests were met and a very successful working relationship was developed with the client, the GMPTE, the City authorities and the sub contractors. On completion of the construction phase of the project Jamie ensured the works were tested and commissioned in accordance with both the contract and the testing and commissioning plan to allow the successful running of passenger services on the planned completion date.

For 1stinrail Jamie has worked with VCV (Modular) Ltd as Construction Management Consultant on the Modular S&C Renewals Project. He was responsible for the development of new renewals techniques to assist Network Rails aspiration of running a seven day railway. He worked closely with senior Network Rail Engineers and Managers to reduce traditional S&C renewal durations by 80% whilst increasing track quality and decreasing costs by 34%. He led teams to coordinate World Wide best practice of railway renewals techniques and amend and progress them in order that they are viable to operate in the UK. And together with the Project Director they introduced high end renewals techniques and introduce German, Dutch and French techniques into the Network Rail infrastructure.

Previous to 1stinrail Jamie has worked as Operations Manager with Trackwork Ltd Rail Engineering Division and as Project Manager with Grant Rail. He has also works as Engineering Manager, Senior Engineer, and Surveyor.

General Manager : Masa Maye.

Masa is a qualified solicitor and manager with years of experience in both the UK and Ireland. Masa has moved from London to Ireland with her young family and is highly committed to the successful development of 1stinrail Ireland. With her unique experience and skills Masa will oversee the organisational, legal, and financial development of 1stinrail Ireland.

Development Manager : Mark Mulholland.

Mark has broad managerial experience in business start-ups in Ireland, from some of the biggest projects in the state to small commercial enterprises. He has worked in engineering, aerospace, and commercial business. He has worked in Germany, France, the UK, and Ireland. He has also worked in the public sector and has headed innovative projects on behalf of the EU Commission.
